Halden Oval Wall Sconce

In hallways, living rooms and stairways, mount the center of the sconce about 60–66″ (152–168 cm) above the finished floor, which keeps the glow near eye level without glare. Beside a bed, place it about 24–30″ (61–76 cm) above the top of the mattress so the light falls where you read. On a staircase, keep the same height measured from the nose of each step so a row of sconces follows the line of the stairs.

Beside a bed or mirror, set each sconce about 3–6″ outside the edge of the headboard or mirror so the frame stays balanced. Along a hallway, space them roughly 6–8 ft (1.8–2.4 m) apart for an even wash of light down the wall. The Set of 2 option makes pairing simple and costs less than buying two separately.

The Halden gives indirect, reflected light. The G9 bulb sits behind the oval shield, so its light hits the inside of the curved shell and spreads back onto the wall as a soft halo, brightest at the center and fading toward the edges. It creates ambient, accent light rather than bright task light.

It uses one G9 bi-pin bulb, a compact base that fits neatly behind the shield. The bulb is not included, so you can choose the brightness and color temperature that suit your room. A G9 LED bulb is a practical choice because it runs much cooler than a halogen G9 and lasts far longer.

From the front the bulb is fully hidden by the oval shield. Seen from a sharp side angle you may glimpse the bulb behind the shield, so for the cleanest look choose a frosted or opal G9 LED bulb.

The sconce is made of stainless steel and aluminum, finished in an antique brass tone. This combination keeps the shell light and slim at just 3.7″ deep, while the finish gives it the warm, aged look of brass with deeper tones toward the outer edge.

Yes. It is rated for AC 110–240V, covering the 120V supply in the United States and Canada and 220–240V supplies in most other countries. Use a G9 bulb rated for your local voltage.

The Halden is hardwired and mounts to a standard wall junction box, with the mounting plate fixed to the box and the shell attached over it. Check the box is set at your chosen height before the wall is finished, and work with a licensed electrician in line with local electrical codes.

Switch off the power and let the bulb cool first. Dust the shell inside and out with a soft, dry microfiber cloth, and avoid abrasive, ammonia or chlorine cleaners, which can wear the antique brass finish.

The Halden is designed for indoor dry locations such as bedrooms, hallways, stairways, living rooms and powder rooms without a shower. It is not rated for outdoor use or for wet areas near a bath or shower.
