Sizing, hanging height, bulbs and care for the Bridlewood Leather Chandelier.

Which shape and size is right for my table?

Choose round for round or square tables, and linear for long tables or kitchen islands. Round: Ø 28.5″ for 42–54″ tables, Ø 34″ for 60–72″ tables, Ø 48″ for large dining rooms and foyers. Linear: 51″ for 72–84″ tables, 62″ for 84–96″ tables, 72″ for 96″ and longer.

How do I choose a size for the room?

Add the room’s length and width in feet, and the total is roughly the ideal diameter in inches. A 12 × 14 ft room suits the Ø 28.5″, a 15 × 18 ft room suits the Ø 34″, and larger rooms or double-height entries suit the Ø 48″.

How high should it hang?

Over a table or island, hang the bottom 30–36″ (76–91 cm) above the surface with an 8 ft ceiling, adding about 3″ for each extra foot of ceiling height. In entryways and walkways, leave at least 7 ft (213 cm) of clearance underneath.

How long is the rod, and can I get a longer one?

The chandelier comes with a 39.4″ (100 cm) rod, which suits most standard ceilings. For vaulted or double-height ceilings, longer rods are made to order; just tell us your ceiling height and preferred hanging height when you order.

What bulbs does it use?

Choose E12 sockets, the standard in the US and Canada, or E14 sockets for Europe and other regions. Bulbs are not included; small candle-shape LED bulbs fit neatly inside the fabric shades and stay cool.

How bright will it be?

Brightness depends on the bulbs you choose, so you can set it to suit the room. For a dining room, a good target is about 30–40 lumens per square foot in total, and the white fabric shades keep the light soft and glare-free.

Will it work with my home’s electrical system?

Yes. It is rated AC 110–240V, so it works in the US and most other countries; just use bulbs rated for your local voltage. It is hardwired and works with a standard wall switch (not included).

How is it installed?

The canopy mounts to a ceiling junction box rated for the fixture’s weight, and the chandelier hangs from rigid brass rods. For the linear model, center the box over the table or island. We recommend installation by a licensed electrician.

Cognac brown or black leather: which should I choose?

Cognac brown feels warm and relaxed, and pairs beautifully with wood furniture and neutral tones. Black looks sharper and more tailored, and suits rooms with black hardware or dark accents.

How do I clean and care for it?

Turn off the power and let the bulbs cool first. Dust the leather, brass and fabric shades with a dry, soft cloth, and avoid water, alcohol and household cleaners.

Can I use it outdoors or in a bathroom?

No. It is designed for indoor dry locations such as dining rooms, kitchens, living rooms and entryways, since leather and fabric are sensitive to moisture.

An evening with the Bridlewood

The best nights start at the island.

It is a little after six. The pasta water is on, someone is slicing lemons on the marble, and the kids have taken over the end of the counter with their homework. Above it all, the stitched leather catches the last of the daylight coming through the window.

As the sky outside goes dark, the fabric shades take over: a row of soft, warm pools of light along the island, bright enough to cook by and gentle enough to linger under.

How long should the hanging rod be?

Suggested rod lengths for hanging the chandelier 30–36″ above a standard 30″ dining table, adding about 3″ of height for each extra foot of ceiling.

The canopy, rods, support arms, collars and candle sleeves of the Bridlewood are all brass. Each piece passes through four stages before it holds a single light, and every stage is about precision and a finish that matches from top to bottom.

Cut to length

Brass bar and tube are cut to size for the canopy, rods, support arms, collars and candle sleeves.

Turned and shaped

Sleeves, collars and finials are turned to clean, even profiles, and the rods are threaded so every section joins tightly.

Finished to one tone

Each part is polished and finished in the same warm brass-gold color, so the whole frame matches from canopy to finial.

Assembled and checked

The leather is fitted and cinched with brass collars, then every chandelier is wired, lit and checked before it ships.

Why we build the frame in brass.

Brass has been trusted for generations in fine door hardware, ship fittings and heirloom lighting. We chose it for the Bridlewood because it lasts, it looks warm, and it lets every small detail be made properly.

It will not rust

Brass is a copper alloy with no iron in it, so unlike painted steel or iron it cannot rust. The frame keeps its good looks in busy kitchens and dining rooms, even if it gets a knock.

A warm tone paint cannot copy

The golden color is in the metal itself, not a coat on top. It sits beautifully with leather, walnut, oak, marble and white cabinetry, and looks warm day and night.

Brass machines cleanly, which is why the sleeves, collars, finials and rod couplers on the Bridlewood have such sharp, even edges and fit together so tightly.
